“Bürgermeister” is what you meant, in english “Citizien Master”. Equals major. “Operation Karneval” was carried out using an captured american bomber to get into the occupied area. Trivia: on the same day, vienna canceled all matches of the annual soccer-championship except for 2. The 1945-winner was declared FC Bayern München

You’re going further into the story there. Had you heard of a V1 landing in Aachen before? It is suggested that it may have been fired at Liège (which they were definitely fired at) but malfunctioned and landed in Aachen (33 miles East of Liège). The V1 was an excellent and cheap weapon – about the cost of a VW family car at the time. I’ve spoken to a couple of English Veterans who said they could handle the bombing….it was when the rockets came people got really worried.
I´m not sure about the V1. But I´ll look in my stock of post-war novels with which the “Institut für Zeitgeschichte” floods the system. I read the free part of it (1953 – 2006, 4 issues per year). It is very likely that I can unearth something on that. Related topics they dealt with would be: Who bombed Freiburg in the early war? Who was responsible for the air-raid on hungarys second largest city in the time 1940-22.06.1941? How many bombs fell on the suisse? and so on…

Ive always taken ‘Bürgermeister’ to mean the equivalent of ‘Mayor’. As in the Lord Mayor of London etc. Of course ‘major’ in German sounds somewhat similar to mayor.
Ive heard people say the V1s were very disconcerting, partly due to the sound. My mum still doesnt like to hear that sound now (or air-raid sirens), she can remember running for cover as a child.
O/T Ive wondered why V1s were launched at all during the day? There seems to be no technical reason for this. During the day many were shot down by guns and fighters. Of course many would still have fallen to radar directed guns and maybe night fighters with radar, but even so…
V1 were not rockets btw. They were launched with a rocket to get them up to speed but were actually jet powered. Essentially the forerunner of the current cruise missile.
The V2, otoh, that was a rocket.

Have no fear on that front. If anything, British Movement know more about World Jewry than they do about Muslims. That’s probably why Islam was the theme of the meeting.

I made a mistake. The bombing of “Kassa” in Hungary occured on June 26th 1941 and is unsolved until today.
